Things to consider during use of the cooling cap
Inform the patient both verbally and in writing.
Wet the patient’s hair
Try more than one size of cooling cap to ensure proper fit
Put on the cooling cap. It is important to have the right sized cap and that the cooling cap is truly sealed to the patient’s head.
Place your hand on the patient’s head and make sure the cooling cap is tight to the patient’s scalp.  If it feels as if there is air between the scalp and the cooling cap, then the cap needs extra pressure applied to ensure tightness.  Place, for example, a roll of gauze or a similar item between the silicon cap and the outer cap to make sure there is better contact with the scalp.

Health care provider
Place a towel under the cooling hoses on the patient’s shoulder.
Keep the patient warm with blankets, warm pillows, and offer them a warm drink
If the patient experiences a lot of discomfort during the cooling process, choose a longer start-up time than the pre-programmed 20 minutes.
Restroom visits are not recommended during the first 20–30 minutes.  If a restroom visit is necessary, the start-up process must be repeated.
After every patient, the inner cap must be cleaned with surface alcohol or soapy water.

See the special insert for recommend cooling times regarding how long the cooling cap should be on before and after treatment.
When the cooling treatment is finished, have the patient keep the cap on for approximately 15 minutes to diminish discomfort.
The patient should not blow-dry their hair directly after treatment has finished.

Technical notes
Check the cooling fluid level in the tank.
When the machine gives an alarm for “low cooling fluid level,” it is OK to finish the current treatment and fill the tank after treatment is finished (approx. 4 dl).  The tank can be refilled during treatment as well.
If possible, use an outlet that has backup power in case of power failure.
In case of power failure or other interruptions in treatment, restart treatment and set the start-up time to one minute to return quickly to the desired temperature again.
When the machine starts and the monitor is blue with white marks, shut off the machine and restart after a couple of minutes.
If some of the front or back sensors do not cool down to the prescribed temperature, check to make sure that there are no kinks in any of the cooling fluid hoses, also try to disconnect and reconnect the sensors.
If some of the temperature sensors display 40 degrees, there is no contact and the sensors need to be replaced.
Make sure that the filter is not dirty, as it needs to be cleaned several times per year.
This is especially important during the summer when it is warm.
